Many people believe that you have to be young and fit to learn Taekwon-Do. This is not the case: Taekwon-Do is for anybody and everybody. It is with this principle in mind that I am dedicated to teach the art of Taekwon-Do in a family-friendly atmosphere with a philosophy of courtesy and cooperation.
Whilst Taekwon-Do is an exciting and interesting form of self-defence, it can also be a life changing experience for many people. After six weeks of the beginner’s course, you will notice a change in not just your figure and shape, but also in your confidence and awareness of your surroundings. You will begin to understand that Taekwon-do has so much to offer: both physically and mentally – not only developing the body, but one’s character as well.
I opened the Letchworth Taekwon-Do School in 2003, Biggleswade Taekwon-Do School in 2007 as well as Baldock and Arlesey in 2014. All the clubs have gone from strength to strength with them having over 350 students and over 26 different classes running throughout the week. We take pride in having a high Instructor to student ratio with 10 BTC registered Instructors and a dedicated junior leadership team. This enables us to provide dedicated age related classes to be able to cater from age 4 to 60+.
The clubs have both seen many successes with multiple National Champions rising from the ranks as well as European Champions and World Champions, some of which started in our Little Dragons program.
I started training in Taekwon-Do in the mid 1990’s and obtained my VII degree black belt in 2023. I have attended many of the late Grandmaster Choi Hong Hi’s seminars and international Instructors courses and more recently Grandmaster Choi Jung Hwa 9th Dan (Grandmaster Choi’s son) to enable us to teach the true techniques without distortion. I have a dedicated Instructors team that consist of fully qualified and recognised BTC registered Instructors who are as committed as I am to teach anyone who wants to learn.
I am a qualified International Instructor, International Umpire and Grading Examiner. I have also had an enhanced CRB check (police check).
The clubs and myself are members of the UTA (Unified Taekwon-Do Association), UKITF, (United Kingdom ITF) ITF (International Taekwon-Do Federation) and the BTC (British Taekwon-Do Council which is recognised by the Sports Council). These are in turn the governing bodies for Taekwon-Do in the UK.
I take pride in attending weekly training under my Instructor Master Glenn Horan 8th Dan, myself and my team of Instructors are dedicated to teach Taekwon-Do to anyone who wishes to learn and believe that Taekwon-Do is for anyone and everyone. So, whether you are fit, unfit, young, or older you to can learn this exciting form of self-defence.
Although it is much more than just self-defence, it can be life changing for some people. If you choose to join the school then you will get 100% commitment from all of us at LBTKD, and will gain so much you will be amazed.
All of our Instructors have had an enhanced DBS check and are registered with the British Taekwon-Do Council which is recognised by the sports council. They have attended an Instructor course and had a practical assessment before being certified, please check out the BTC safeguarding policy.
